Job Brief: The Assistant Accountant will play a critical role in supporting the financial operations of the Company.
Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant, the Assistant Accountant is responsible for ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, adherence to compliance standards, and providing reliable financial data to support decision-making. This role manages the day-to-day accounting supervision functions and supports the Finance unit in the financial reporting, audit and budgeting processes.
Key Responsibilities: Financial Oversight
Ensure all accruals, prepayment and Intercompany schedules and transactions are completed timely and accurately
Reconciliation of various general ledger accounts (Income Statement and Balance Sheet)
Approve vendor payments, refunds and claims
ACH Sweep Management
Review and timely clearing of Unallocated Deposits
Ensure that Salary Deductions are uploaded timely and accurately
Daily Cash Balancing
Disbursement of Loan applications
Financial Reporting
Preparation of schedules for Statutory Reporting
Preparation of investment schedules and ensure transactions are recorded timely and accurately
Fixed Assets Management (schedule preparation and posting of entries)
Bank Reconciliations, review bank statement filings, prepare and review of distributed bank reconciliations
Tracking of Loan portfolio Remittances
Audit Support
Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate the audit process
Address audit queries and implement recommendations to improve processes
Team Supervision and Collaboration
Supervision and management of Finance Staff, providing mentorship to build a strong and capable finance team
Work closely with the Senior Accountant, Accountant and other finance team members to achieve departmental goals
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
Professional accounting designation (ACCA, CPA) OR actively pursuing ACCA Level 2 qualification combined with three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in accounting or financial reporting roles, preferably within the financial services sector

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
