JOB TITLE: Mortgage Officer

GRADE: 3

DEPARTMENT: Mortgages

REPORTS TO: Manager-Mortgages

JOB SUMMARY
Provides strong support to the Manager and Mortgages Department in maintaining and growing the residential mortgage portfolio, analysing new business and completing mortgage loan processing. Also manage and administer the delinquent residential mortgages.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Identifies, solicits and acquires new or increased mortgage business from existing accounts and new prospects, in line with company policy and planned objectives.
  2. Exercises due diligence in the mortgage loan assessment process via thorough and strong lending administration with focus on quality and security regularization.
  3. Exercises strong portfolio management to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  4. Actions monthly the delinquent residential mortgages in arrears to include the preparation of memos for recommendation for restructure where applicable.
  5. Prepares monthly and quarterly performance reports or as otherwise required
  6. Refers new business to group companies for life and general insurance, investment and other consumer products.
  7. Performs any other related duties and handles special projects, as may be requested by management.

Works independently, reporting to the Manager - Mortgages, guided by the unit’s policies and procedures. Requires the ability to interpret, analyze and resolve administrative problems while making sound judgment calls in relation to the Company’s strict policies and procedures. The job holder has limited authority to influence/change the unit’s work systems, methods, procedures or performance standards.
