Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. The successful candidate will assist with accounts payable and receivable functions, bank reconciliations, general ledger entries, and financial record maintenance while ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliations accurately and on time.
  • Assist with maintaining general ledger entries and financial records.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports and accounting schedules.
  • Reconcile account balances and investigate discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized accounting files and documentation.
  • Utilize accounting software to record and track financial transactions.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage 50, or similar.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and reconciliations.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Sound understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to start immediately.
  • Must own a reliable vehicle.
  • Must be willing to work in Port of Spain.
