Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and hardworking Butcher / Meat Handler to join our team at our Petit Valley location. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience working in a butchery or meat-handling environment, a strong understanding of meat cutting and safe handling practices, and the physical ability to perform the demanding duties associated with the role.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Cut, trim, debone, and prepare various types of meat, including beef, pork, poultry, and other meat products, according to required specifications.

• Safely and efficiently handle and process frozen and chilled meat products.

• Ensure all meat cuts meet required quality, weight, and presentation standards.

• Properly store, label, and rotate meat products to maintain freshness and minimize waste.

• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards.

• Safely operate and maintain butchery equipment, including knives, saws, grinders, and slicers.

• Regularly lift, move, and handle heavy meat products, including large frozen items.

• Assist with receiving, inspecting, and properly storing meat deliveries.

• Provide excellent service to customers or internal team members when required, including guidance on meat cuts and preparation.

• Comply with all health, safety, sanitation, and company procedures.

 

Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience as a Butcher or Meat Handler within a butchery, meat processing facility, supermarket, or similar environment.

• Strong knowledge of meat cuts, grades, preparation, and handling techniques.

• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices.

• Must be physically capable of heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, and handling frozen and chilled meat products.

• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

• Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the required work schedule.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Must possess a valid driver's permit.

• Must have access to a reliable, working vehicle.

• Must be willing and able to undergo a background check.

 

Schedule

• Days: Monday to Friday

• Hours: Typically 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (most days)

• Employment Type: Part-Time
