Job Summary:
A Courier is responsible for transporting goods by car, truck, van, or any other delivery vehicle. They are responsible for inspecting their delivery vehicle, loading and unloading goods to be transported, manage detailed records of their deliveries, mileage, fuel and customer relations.
1. Applicant Qualification
• 3-5 CXC Passes
• Previous Experience in a similar position will be an asset
• Any form of vocational skills/training/experience
• A valid manual driver’s license Class 3 & 4
• Police Certificate of good character.
• 12 months without active demerit points.
2. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
• Physically Active (males should be able to lift at least 50lbs/25kg; females should be able to lift at least 30lbs/14kg).
• Advance understanding of Trinidad and Tobago road networks
• Basic vehicle management and maintenance knowledge
• Strong multitasking abilities
• Ability to use mobile/smart device for communication
• Good Teamwork and coordination
• Superb Time Management Skills
3. Roles & Responsibilities
• Drive delivery vehicles and ensure complete delivery of items including any financial transactions necessary
• Load and unload vehicle with products to be delivered.
• Inspect the delivery vehicle before, after and during scheduled operation activities.
• Maintain optimum levels of fuel and other essential vehicle maintenance fluids.
• Keep detailed records of vehicle management including, mileage and repairs and report abnormalities in vehicle operation.
• Ensure good customer relations and report complaints in a timely manner
• Deliver items by the required delivery date and time utilizing wide variety of items to different addresses and through different routes
• Collect payment or get signatures for proof of delivery. Complete all company necessary documentation for daily operations during and after the delivery process.
• Ensure all items being delivered remain intact during transport and delivery to and from distribution centers
• Obeying the rules of the road set by the Ministry of Transport.
• Abiding by all Company safety regulations on and off the compound.
• Finding the quickest and safest route to your destination.
• Reporting any accidents or delays and report such using procedures set by the company
• Diagnose and conduct minor roadside repairs on the truck eg. Flat tyre change etc.
• Are directly responsible for the actions and safety of other employees in the vehicle- eg. lorryman, sale representative and merchandisers.
