To interact effectively with customers, both in person and via telephone, by providing accurate information on products and services, promoting sales, resolving complaints, and ensuring that merchandise is properly priced, displayed, and fully stocked.
· Provide a professional level of service that ensures a positive and memorable shopping experience.
· Greet customers courteously and assist them respectfully at all times.
· Assist customers in locating products and provide suitable recommendations based on their needs.
· Coordinate with other branches to locate merchandise as needed, place special orders, follow up on customer requests, and ensure timely delivery of items.
· Maintain thorough knowledge of all products within assigned bays and adjacent areas to answer inquiries and direct customers to relevant departments.
· Describe merchandise accurately, explain its use, operation, and care, and demonstrate products when required.
· Stay informed about current promotions, sales policies, payment and exchange procedures, and security guidelines.
· Calculate tile quantities based on square footage, estimate costs, recommend appropriate PEI ratings, and advise on related materials such as thinset and grout. (PEI ratings tell you how strong a tile is and how much foot traffic it can handle before it starts to wear out.
The higher the PEI number, the tougher the tile and the more people can walk on it without damaging it)
· Maintain professional telephone etiquette at all times.
· Proactively look for opportunities to improve customer service and enhance customer satisfaction.
· Recommend new products or items not currently carried by the company to the Floor Supervisor or Branch Manager.
· Conduct stock checks for the Inventory Department and request replenishment of items that are out of stock, low in stock, or fast-selling.
· Work collaboratively with the Inventory Supervisor and/or suppliers to ensure timely delivery of stock to prevent loss of sales.
· Inspect goods to ensure they are suitable for resale.
· Ensure all merchandise is correctly priced and prepared for sale.
· Tag, arrange, and display merchandise to promote sales, ensuring barcodes correspond accurately to the products.
· Replenish shelves daily within your assigned bays.
· Ensure items stored in internal and upstairs warehouse areas are properly displayed on the shop floor.
· Conduct routine price scans within your bay to verify price accuracy, and update the Scan Log Notebook accordingly.
· Prepare sales slips or sales contracts as required.
· Maintain good housekeeping practices, ensuring shelves, counters, and tables are clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
· Remain alert to security risks and theft, and take appropriate action in accordance with company procedures.
· Process exchanges and returns in compliance with the company’s return policy and only with approval from the Floor Supervisor or Branch Manager.
· Manage time effectively and support others in doing the same.
· Demonstrate sound decision-making by using new information to solve current and future problems.
· Comply with all company policies, regulations, and Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) requirements.
· Perform any other duties assigned.
· A minimum of four (4) CXC subjects, including Mathematics and English.
· Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
· Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external customers.
· Good manual dexterity, hearing, vision, and the physical ability to lift, push, or pull items as required.
· Ability to understand and process information presented orally or in writing.
· Clear verbal communication skills to ensure understanding by others.
· Competence in using computer hardware and software for data entry and information processing.
· Ability to provide information to supervisors, colleagues, and customers in person, by telephone, or in writing.
