Purpose of the Role
The Data Controller is responsible for the governance, quality assurance, control, and coordination of engineering information and data throughout the lifecycle of the Manatee project. The role ensures that project information is compliant with The company Information Management requirements, Asset Information Specifications, Contractor Information Specifications, and project data standards.
The Data Controller works closely with engineering contractors, project engineers, Information Management teams, and Operations stakeholders to ensure engineering data and documentation are complete, accurate, accessible, and ready for handover to Operations and digital asset environments.
Key Accountabilities
Engineering Information Management
• Administer and maintain engineering information within project information management systems, including Engineering Data Warehouse (EDW), Assai, SharePoint, and related digital platforms.
• Support the implementation of project Information Management strategies, processes, and standards.
• Ensure engineering deliverables are properly registered, classified, version-controlled, and archived.
• Coordinate information exchange between this company, EPC contractors, and suppliers.
• Allocation of Tags in accordance with Tagging Specifications and existing naming conventions.
Data Quality Assurance
• Perform quality checks on engineering data and documents against project requirements.
• Verify compliance with Engineering Information Specification requirements, engineering data quality rules, metadata standards, and taxonomy requirements.
• Identify, track, and support resolution of data quality issues and non-conformances.
• Maintain clear evidence of data checks, exceptions, ownership, and closure status.
Engineering Data Management
• Coordinate the receipt, validation, and loading of engineering data into project databases and digital systems.
• Review and validate engineering data hierarchies and relationships across Tag Registers, Equipment Registers, Functional Locations, instrument data, electrical data, process data, and vendor information.
• Support master data preparation and ensure consistency of engineering data across EDW, Assai, Digital Twin, and operational systems.
• Support data migration, integration, and verification activities across systems.
• Contribute to trusted data readiness for Operations, Digital Twin, and future asset lifecycle management.
Contractor Performance Management
• Monitor contractor compliance with project information and data requirements.
• Track submission performance, data quality metrics, and information delivery milestones.
• Support contractor onboarding and training on project information requirements.
• Participate in assurance reviews, audits, and progress meetings.
Information Handover Support
• Support the development and execution of project information handover plans.
• Validate completeness and quality of handover deliverables.
• Assist in preparing final documentation and as-built information packages.
• Coordinate closure of information gaps prior to project handover.
Reporting and Governance
• Produce regular reports and dashboards covering data quality, document status, handover readiness, contractor compliance, and Information Management KPIs.
• Support governance forums, assurance reviews, and action tracking.
• Escalate risks and issues where data or document quality may impact project delivery, operations readiness, or compliance.
• Analysis of data quality trends, recurring data issues, root cause identification, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 3-7 years' experience in Engineering Information Management, Data Management, Document Control, or Project Information Management.
• Experience supporting major capital projects in the energy, oil and gas, petrochemical, or industrial sectors.
• Experience working with EPC contractors, engineering deliverables, vendor information, and project handover requirements.
• Working knowledge of engineering databases, document management systems, and data quality assurance processes.
• Working knowledge of equipment tagging and tag naming conventions in the energy sector.
