Overview
Seeking a hands-on Division Head to manage the day-to-day operations of a transport business. This is not a desk-based management role. We require an operational leader who is comfortable working in the garage, on customer sites, and working closely with drivers, mechanics, dispatchers, and administrative staff to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable operations.
The successful candidate must possess a strong technical understanding of heavy commercial vehicles and equipment and demonstrate the leadership qualities required to drive accountability, continuous improvement, and high service standards.
The role is demanding as the business operates continuously.
Technical Requirements
Candidates should have:
· Minimum five (5) years’ experience managing operations within the heavy motor vehicle, waste management, transport, logistics or construction equipment industries.
· Strong working knowledge of heavy commercial vehicles, hydraulics and preventative maintenance programmes.
· Experience managing and optimising fleet availability, repairs, maintenance scheduling and workshop operations.
· Good understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental management systems and regulatory compliance.
· Experience in procurement, inventory and cost control.
· Strong operational planning, scheduling and resource allocation skills.
· Ability to analyse operational data and make sound commercial decisions.
Strong digital skills and ability to navigate new platforms along with Microsoft 365
