Position Overview
The General Manager will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, with oversight for key strategic areas including but not limited to stakeholder engagement, brand positioning, and leadership development. This role will work closely with the Managing Director to assist strategic direction, commercial, financial and operational initiatives aligned with the objectives of the company The incumbent is expected to translate the MD's vision and strategic direction into actionable plans, while also providing recommendations, insights, and proposals to support the MD's decision-making process.
The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen the company's's market position and brand equity in Trinidad and Tobago, deepen relationships with key stakeholders, drive sustainable business performance, and ensure the business remains aligned with both the company's international requirements as well as local market realities.
The individual has demonstrated experience in a commercially viable environment with demonstrated experience in financial management, stakeholder engagement, strategic marketing, brand positioning, business development and people leadership.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Strategy & Competitive Advantage
• Partner with the Managing Director in planning and executing the company's short-, medium- and long-term strategic priorities.
• Monitor industry trends, consumer behaviour, economic conditions, regulatory developments and competitive activity affecting the automotive sector.
• Evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, market segments and revenue streams.
• To develop systems, processes, and organizational capabilities that will enable the company to grow sustainably and independently over the long term
• Ensure the organization remains agile and responsive to changes in the automotive industry, including changing customer expectations and competitor behaviour in both Sales and Aftersales (3S).
• Support the Managing Director on major business decisions, investments and risk management.
• Provide strategic oversight, identifying opportunities for growth, increasing efficiency, and enhancing competitive advantage.
2. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
• To serve as the external face of the company by building and nurturing relationships with key accounts, including government entities and fleet customers, while also strengthening and enhancing the company's corporate reputation.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including the company's Shareholder, financial institutions, Regulatory and Statutory bodies, Associations, Directors, Auditors and all internal shareholders.
• Represent the company at senior levels with government, regulatory agencies, financial institutions, business organisations, industry associations, corporate customers and strategic partners.
• Serve as a senior ambassador for the the company's brand and the company within Trinidad and Tobago.
• Develop Stakeholder engagement strategies that enhance trust, reputation, influence and long-term commercial relationships; anticipating stakeholder concerns and ensuring timely, professional and strategic responses.
• Support the Managing Director in high-level negotiations, industry engagements and corporate relationship management as necessary.
3. Brand Positioning, Marketing & Customer Experience
• To establish a seamless and integrated customer experience across the entire customer journey, from vehicle sales to aftersales service, with the objective of maximizing customer retention.
• Strengthen the company's market leadership, brand relevance and differentiation across key customer segments.
• Oversee marketing strategy across traditional, digital, experiential, social and customer engagement channels.
• Ensure marketing investment is commercially disciplined and delivers measurable returns.
• Strengthen customer acquisition, retention, loyalty and lifetime value.
• Monitor brand health, market share, customer sentiment and competitive positioning.
• Work closely with Sales, Aftersales and Customer Experience to create an integrated customer journey.
4. Corporate Reputation & External Representation
• Serve as a senior corporate spokesperson and representative when required.
• Protect and enhance the company's reputation and the company's brand equity.
• Support corporate communications and public relations strategies.
• Develop strong relationships with media, business leaders and influential community stakeholders where appropriate.
• Represent the company at industry forums, business conferences and other strategic events.
• Promote the company's corporate citizenship and contribution to Trinidad and Tobago
5. Strategic Leadership
• Participate in executive-level decision-making, strategic planning, financial reviews, stakeholder engagements and major negotiations.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of all major business functions and their interdependencies.
• Assume delegated responsibilities from the Managing Director as competence and readiness develop.
• Develop executive-level capability in corporate governance, risk management, crisis management and stakeholder leadership.
6. Financial Oversight - - - Review overall business performance and key financial indicators with the Managing Director. Support decisions that improve long-term profitability, growth, and value creation. Promote financial accountability across the leadership team.
7. Leadership Development & Capability
• Build a high-performance leadership culture focused on accountability, collaboration, customer excellence and continuous improvement.
• Develop and coach members of the senior management team and emerging leaders.
• Establish clear leadership-development and succession plans for critical roles.
• Promote a culture aligned with the company's principles, values and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ensure organizational structures, talent and capabilities are aligned with the company's strategic objectives.
• Act as a visible role model for integrity, professionalism, customer focus and ethical leadership.
8. Business Integration & Performance - - -
Facilitate alignment and collaboration among key business functions.
Monitor organizational performance against strategic objectives.
Support continuous improvement and customer-centric execution across the business.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Management, Economics or a related discipline.
• MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
• 10+ years of progressive senior management experience in a commercially driven environment: (automotive, consumer goods, retail, distribution, financial services etc)
• Demonstrated experience in marketing, brand management, market positioning and commercial management.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing senior talent.
• Strong understanding of business strategy, budgeting, forecasting, financial performance and commercial decision-making.
• Experience working with Boards, shareholders, government agencies, major corporate customers or other senior stakeholders would be advantageous.
• Experience managing a significant P&L.
• Experience in change management, business transformation or organizational development.
• Exposure to corporate governance and Board-level processes.
