Position Overview

The Group Network & Systems Administrator is responsible for the overall design, installation, configuration, optimization, and daily operational maintenance of the core networking, server infrastructure, and virtualization platforms across a multi-site Group of Companies.

This role requires a hands-on technical professional with extensive experience managing enterprise multi-site network environments, with a heavy emphasis on the Ubiquiti network ecosystem with deployment and administration of Windows Server infrastructure (Active Directory Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Hyper-V/VMware virtualization). The incumbent will focus on high availability, network performance, system uptime, and business continuity across all subsidiary locations and remote offices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Network Infrastructure & Ubiquiti Ecosystem Management

  • Architect, configure, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, WAN, VLANs, and wireless networks across all corporate branches and group subsidiaries.

  • Oversee the end-to-end management of the Ubiquiti ecosystem, including UniFi Cloud Gateways/UDMs, enterprise switches, access points, and controller management software.

  • Configure and maintain site-to-site VPN tunnels, client VPNs, VLAN segmentation (Data, Voice, Guest, Surveillance, Management), traffic prioritization, and bandwidth management.

  • Manage multi-WAN connections, failover redundancies, and load balancing across various Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Trinidad & Tobago and the wider region.

  • Perform regular network performance tuning, Wi-Fi signal optimization, and bandwidth utilization monitoring across all operational sites.

2. Systems Administration, Virtualization & Core Infrastructure

  • Lead the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of physical and virtual servers (Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022).

  • Build and manage Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), File Server environments from scratch, including setup of Primary/Secondary Domain Controllers, Trust Relationships, Active Directory Sites, and Group Policy Objects (GPO).

  • Implement and manage core network services: DNS (forward/reverse lookup zones, conditional forwarders), DHCP (scopes, failover, option tags), File/Print Servers, and RADIUS authentication.

  • Administer server virtualization environments (Microsoft Hyper-V), managing virtual machine provisioning, resource allocation, and storage migration.

  • Oversee enterprise storage hardware (NAS/SAN configurations, iSCSI, NFS, vendor related appliances).

  • Design, test, and execute routine enterprise backup and restoration jobs (e.g., Veeam Backup & Replication, cloud repository backups based on the 3-2-1-0 framework) to guarantee system recoverability and minimal RTO/RPO.

3. IT Operations, Vendor Management & Escalations

  • Serve as the senior escalation point (Tier 3) for complex network outages, server failures, or systemic performance bottlenecks.

  • Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation for network topologies, IP address schemes, server configurations, backup schedules, and software licensing.

  • Manage relationship and service request tickets with external telecom operators, hardware vendors, and IT suppliers for procurement, circuit installation, and SLA enforcement.

  • Plan and execute scheduled OS patching, firmware updates, and hardware lifecycle maintenance across all servers and network devices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of direct, hands-on experience as a Network and Systems Administrator, preferably within a multi-company, corporate, or regional Group of Companies environment.

  • Proven experience building and managing Windows Server infrastructure (Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, GPOs).

  • Track record of designing, deploying, and maintaining multi-site Ubiquiti networks would be ideal.

Professional Certifications (Preferred / Highly Regarded)

  • Ubiquiti Enterprise Certification (UEWA, UBWA, or UBRSS) – Strong Advantage.

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server / Azure Administrator Associate (or legacy MCSA/MCSE).

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent networking credentials.

  • CompTIA Network+.
