POSITION SUMMARY
The Labour Relations and Services Lead is responsible for promoting and maintaining positive employee relations within the organisation, implementing and maintaining labour relations programs aimed at minimizing legal exposure and managing employee benefits and services. As part of the HR & Safety leadership team, the incumbent will also provide cross-functional support in both local and regional projects, where required.

 

RESPONSIBILITES

1. Lead the Company’s employee/ industrial relations portfolio by providing guidance and sound advice to the leadership team on a range of employee relations matters as it relates to the employment relationship.

2. Manage the relationship between employees and the organization. Ensure fair treatment and compliance with company policies and employment laws. Mitigating potential conflicts.

3. Lead the progressive discipline process up to and including termination.

4. Maintain oversight of all trade disputes, high court matters and OSHA matters brought against the Company. Ensure that all documents and files (hard and soft copy) are properly maintained. Follow-up with attorneys to keep abreast of submissions and outcomes from court proceedings.

5. Remain current on regulations, laws, industry trends, and best practices; and to keep the organization compliant and competitive.

6. Lead the Company’s grievance process through sensitization of employees and managers on the policy and procedure for grievance handling with objective and timely resolution.

7. Collaborate with the Strategic Planning & Systems Coordinator in the development of employee engagement strategies geared towards creating and maintaining a positive organizational culture and fostering a motivated and engaged workforce essential for achieving long-term business success.

 

EDUCATION & TRAINING

§ A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Business Administration or any other related discipline from a recognized institution.

§ Certifications in Industrial Relations, Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Mediation.

§ Must be able to communicate in Spanish both written and verbal.

 

EXPERIENCE

 A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar professional or leadership role.

 Experience in the manufacturing sector, a regional or global organization will be an asset.

· Demonstrated experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and leadership

· Demonstrated experience in dealing with the Ministry of Labour, the Industrial Court/High Court

· Knowledge of Employment Laws and practices in Trinidad & Tobago
