The Operations Assistant is responsible for the monitoring and control of diesel inventory in all of the Company’s Road Tank Wagons (RTW), the Storage Facility and other locations where diesel is stored. Emphasis is placed on full custody and reconciliation, including stock on loan, of all fuels under the position holder’s control.  The Operations Assistant is also responsible for ensuring that product is always available for programmed/dispatched deliveries. The position holder also has the responsibility of supervising and controlling all activities at the storage site with regards to loading and offloading, fleet, equipment and manpower so as to minimize risk whilst increasing productivity and efficiency. 

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure operations are effected in compliance to statutory, customer and company policies and procedures
  • Supervise and dispatch delivery team
  • Prepares the delivery schedule for the following work day
  • Supervises movement of stock
  • Ensures all fleet is outfitted with all necessary equipment/accessories
  • Ensures that the delivery team is properly outfitted with the relevant Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Conducting random customer visits to verify compliance and quality of service
  • Conducting audits of the Company’s Above Ground Diesel Storage tanks and other assets at customer locations and develops plan to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain good customer relations

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring compliance across Company to the Company’s Health Safety and Management System.
  • Conducting and reviews specified HSE audits as required under the Company’s HSE Management System.
  • Reviewing and amends HSE policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing and prepares Risk Assessments and JSA’s based on the needs of the Company.
  • Conducting Safety Meetings and Tool Box Talks among others.
  • Reviewing and conducts random verification of inspections and checklists.
  • Other duties as may be required.

 
 
Specific Skills/Experience and/ or Knowledge

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function as an effective team member.
  • Develops and maintains solid customer relationships.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications.
  • Willing to work flexible hours.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational, Safety and Health Act of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Experience in working in a STOW certified or ISO environment.

 
Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in a similar environment
  • Experience supervising Heavy Truck drivers and Assistants.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function as an effective team member.
  • Develops and maintains solid customer relationships.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications.
  • Willing to work flexible hours.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational, Safety and Health Act of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Experience in working in a STOW certified or ISO environment.
