Job Purpose
The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and controlling daily production operations across all production departments through the Production Team Leads. The role ensures approved production schedules are executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with quality, food safety and HSE requirements. The Production Supervisor monitors overall production performance, coaches and holds Team Leads accountable, resolves escalated operational issues, coordinates support from Maintenance, Quality and Warehouse, and provides the Plant Manager with accurate and timely information on production output, downtime, wastage, labour utilisation and operational risks.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Production Coordination & Schedule Execution
· Coordinate daily production activities across all production departments through the assigned Team Leads.
· Translate the approved production schedule into departmental priorities and ensure Team Leads understand daily targets, staffing requirements and production priorities.
· Monitor schedule adherence and production progress across departments, resolve escalated constraints and authorize operational adjustments within delegated authority, referring matters outside the scope of the role to the Plant Manager
· Coordinate production start-ups, changeovers and real-time schedule adjustments through the Production Team Leads to minimise downtime and maintain product, quality and safety requirements.
· Review staffing requirements across production departments and coordinate approved employee reassignment or relief coverage where necessary to support production priorities.
Performance Monitoring & Operational Control
· Review production output, productivity, line efficiency, downtime, wastage and labour utilisation across all departments.
· Identify performance gaps and ensure Team Leads implement timely corrective actions.
· Analyse recurring production losses and trends and recommend improvement actions to the Plant Manager.
Team Lead Management & Development
· Conduct routine production meetings and operational performance reviews with the Production Team Leads.
· Coach, guide and hold Team Leads accountable for departmental performance, reporting, employee supervision and compliance with required standards.
· Address attendance, conduct and performance concerns involving Production Team Leads, review employee matters escalated by Team Leads, and initiate appropriate corrective or disciplinary action within delegated authority and in accordance with
Company policies and Human Resources guidance.
· Support Team Lead development and probationary KPI reviews, identifying training orperformance improvement requirements.
Qualifications & Experience required
· Associate Degree or Diploma in Production Operations, Manufacturing Technology, Food Technology, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or a related field.
· Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a manufacturing or food-production environment, including at least two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory, team-leadership or production-coordination capacity.
· Strong working knowledge of production processes, GMP, food-safety principles, HSE requirements and production documentation.
· Formal training or certification in GMP, HACCP, food safety or related manufacturing-control systems would be an asset.
· Demonstrated ability to manage production performance and coordinate operational issues across multiple production areas.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and production-performance reporting.
· Experience using ERP, MRP or production-tracking systems would be an asset.
Physical Demands
· Required to spend significant time on the production floor, including prolonged standing and walking across multiple production departments.
· Ability to move between production lines, storage and support areas to monitor operations and respond to issues.
· May occasionally be required to bend, reach, climb stairs or navigate around production equipment and materials.
· Comfortable working in a food manufacturing environment with noise, varying temperatures and the mandatory use of PPE.
