JOB SUMMARY:  

Under limited supervision, be responsible for Quality Control throughout the Plant (Production, Raw Materials Processing,  Packaging and Warehouse Departments) by ensuring that products manufactured by the Company as well as those imported for sale are of the highest quality and conform to the Company’s manufacturing practices and procedures; develop and co-ordinate programmes, procedures and evaluations techniques to meet and maintain quality standards and reliability of manufactured products; document test results and provide suggestions to attain the best quality product possible and manage all quality floor workers who carry out quality control duties. In addition you will be responsible for testing new products and determining whether those products meet the standards of the business in reliability, durability and functionality. 

You must at all times pay special attention to and promote workplace safety.

 

MAIN FUNCTIONS

Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to:

 Create and implement quality documentation and develop SOPs for the Company and products in line with industry standards; maintain accurate documentation of same.

 Maintain accurate quality documentation 

 Proactively review and improve manufacturing and quality systems and processes to ensure the maintenance of high standards 

 Ensure that appropriate machinery and tools are used and maintained for the process of quality products and efficiency

 Ensure statistical analysis of manufacturing data and provide reports for senior management members based on quality documentation

 Work closely with the manufacturing employees to ensure quality protocols are followed and documentation is maintained accurately and implement any new changes or adaptations based on a quality review 

 Ensure the planned products are being made in accordance with quantity, density, melt index and colour; and variance should be immediately brought to the attention of the Plant Manager.  Any variance that may impact upon the quality of the final product must be noted.

 Ensure the highest standards of excellence are maintained by thoroughly inspecting samples of finished goods for flaws, defects and/or blemishes by considering the strength, weight, dimensions, colour and texture of the item. 

 Ensure that all errors made during the manufacturing process are immediately brought to the attention of the relevant Managers so that the matter can be corrected in a timely manner thereby avoiding wasted time and raw materials. 

 Ensure that all established procedures are followed to prevent defective products from leaving the Production floor and reaching the Warehouse for sale to our customers. 

 Complete daily reports which reflect the movement and condition of finished goods.

 Guide employees on quality measures and provide training as needed. Ensure all rejected products are noted on the relevant report with the appropriate explanation and said products are expeditiously sent to recycle after being viewed by the relevant Manager.

 Oversee the inspection and testing of  various parts of manufacturing including products, components, processes, and compare against predefined standards

 Ensure safety requirements are met at every point in the manufacturing facility

 Work closely with external partners e.g. suppliers, customers, etc.

 Ensure all tools and equipment used in the QC Department are kept in good working order and immediately address any defects / damages / loss.

 Ensure that all finished goods carry the appropriate sticker with the name of the Operator and Quality Control personnel on shift written in the allocated space on the sticker.

 Stop and investigate, in conjunction with the relevant Manager, any continuous run of defective products being produced.

 Ensure all finished good tanks carry the day’s code, i.e. date/shift/operator, so that traceability of returned tanks can be affected in a timely manner.

 Inspect raw materials to ensure they conform to the requirements of the production program by way of quantity, density, melt index and color; any deficiencies to the aforementioned must be immediately brought to the attention of the Plant Manager.

 Ensure inspection and testing of finished products takes place before products are stored for collection by the Warehouse Department.  Every product must be inspected and, where applicable, randomly tested.  All rejected items must be noted on “The Daily QC Product Control Sheet”, outlining the quantity rejected and reason(s) for same.  This is to be done before said products are cut up for regrinding.

 Be alert of your surroundings at all times to ensure your safety as well as that of the Company’s property.

 Ensure that your work area is kept clean and tidy at all times.

 Perform any other job related duties as assigned by the Marketing Director, Plant Manager, Assistant Plant Manager or any other Director.


Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field

Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in quality control, quality assurance, or a similar role

Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity

Strong knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 or other relevant regulatory frameworks
