Job Summary:
The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and preparing financial reports in compliance with accounting standards and banking regulations. The incumbent will collaborate with various departments within the bank to ensure that financial transactions are accurately recorded, and financial statements are prepared on time. The Accountant is a critical member of Massy Finance GFC’s (MFGFC) Finance team and will play an essential role in ensuring the bank’s financial records are accurate and compliant with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage MFGFC’s financial transactions by ensuring that they are accurately recorded in the banking system;
Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with accounting standards and banking regulations;
Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, ensuring that discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly;
Provide financial analysis and advice to the Head – Finance, CFO and Managing Director to support decision-making processes;
Liaise with external auditors to ensure timely completion of audits;
Assist in the preparation of the Department and Company’s budget and forecasts;
Complete monthly and quarterly group reporting deliverables including TB uploads, flash reporting, intercompany, variance reports and supplemental workings;
Update Instaloan and demand loan schedules including reconciling to the general ledger;
Ensure VAT, Corporation Tax, Green Fund and Business Levy is calculated and paid in a timely manner;
Ensure compliance with banking regulations and accounting standards;
Manage direct reports including reviewing journals and reconciliations, coaching, mentoring and assisting with their personal development
Any other duties assigned by the Head – Finance.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field OR actively pursuing ACCA Professional designation (Level 3)
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting, preferably in a banking environment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of banking regulations and accounting standards
Experience with financial reporting and analysis
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with different departments
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software
