Company Profile:
The Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Desalcott) maintains its position as the largest operating desalination facility in the western hemisphere. The plant produces and supplies potable water to the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA).

Job Specification:
Desalcott is currently seeking to recruit a dynamic individual to fill the position of Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer. The successful candidate would ensure the reliability of Instrumentation and Electrical equipment on the plant by actively planning maintenance jobs, forecasting future requirements and developing solutions.

This is an experienced Engineer position that requires an individual to be able to plan/manage routine and emergency jobs as well as forecast future job requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Generate work plans using PM schedules and Work Requests from Operations and also recommend work necessary to maintain plant reliability.
  2. Co-ordinate Daily Planned Work and PMs.
  3. Co-ordinate New and Emergency Jobs.
  4. Ensure that Work Permits, Work Requests, PMs and Weekly reporting are submitted in a timely manner.
  5. Ensure that Spare parts are properly specified and ordered to maintain reliability on the plant.
  6. Generate Scope of Work documents for contracted jobs.
  7. Provide emergency response as and when required.
  8. Successfully plan and execute shutdown jobs in the time allotted.
  9. Ensure that all administrative requirements are met.
  10. Supervise the use of sub-contractors where there is a lack of available manpower, expertise or equipment.
  11. Review existing Electrical/Instrumentation systems and make recommendations for upgrades/improvements.
  12. Coordinate with the Stores Department to ensure that adequate inventory levels are maintained.
  13. Any other duties as directed by the Electrical and Instrumentation Manager.

Qualifications:
  1. BSc Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  2. Minimum of 5 years industrial experience in a process plant environment.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  1. Maintenance of industrial plant electrical and electronic instrument systems.
  2. PLC (ladder logic) programming experience.
  3. Experience with installation and troubleshooting of process analyzing equipment for measuring flow, pressure, level, temperature, chemical analysis etc.
  4. Experience with installation and troubleshooting of valve actuators/positioners i.e. electrical and pneumatic.
  5. Experience troubleshooting PLC inputs/outputs i.e. analog and discrete.
  6. Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.
  7. Ability to read and interpret Instrument Loop Diagrams.
  8. Low voltage, medium voltage and 15kV industrial electrical systems including motors, MCC’s transformers and switchgear.
  9. Preventive and predictive maintenance systems and tools.
  10. Planning and execution of small to medium sized projects.
  11. Trouble shooting of low voltage and medium voltage variable frequency drives (VFD’s).
  12. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
  13. Excellent oral and communication skills.
  14. Troubleshooting skills.
  15. Team Player.
  16. High level of integrity.
  17. Adaptable.
  18. Good planning and organizational skills.
  19. Good emergency response.
  20. Working knowledge of standard safety procedures in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (2004) amended in (2006).
