ABC Home Center is seeking a driven, detail-oriented Accountant (ACCA-qualified) to support the day-to-day financial operations of a fast-paced retail environment.

This role is ideal for a young professional in the early stages of their accounting career who is looking to build strong technical capability across financial reporting, reconciliations, audit, and operational finance, while working within a structured, control-driven environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity across the organization.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate accounting records, post transactions to the General Ledger, and support month-end close including Trial Balance and financial reporting
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and identification of variances or anomalies
  • Perform and reconcile bank, cash, POS, LINX, credit card, and backend transactions, including monitoring overages/shortages and investigating discrepancies
  • Manage accounts receivable and payable, including customer allocations, collections follow-ups, invoice verification, payment processing, and credit control activities
  • Support payroll processing, reconciliations, and statutory compliance, including preparation and submission of PAYE, NIB, Health Surcharge, and VAT requirements
  • Assist with internal audits by reviewing financial and operational processes, identifying control gaps, and preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation
  • Support inventory accounting, stock counts, variance analysis, and cost control in alignment with retail operations
  • Liaise with banks and external stakeholders, preparing documentation for transactions, transfers, and foreign exchange activities
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready financial documentation and records to support compliance and reporting requirements

 Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • ACCA (completed) – REQUIRED
  • 2–4 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role (retail experience is an asset)
  • Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., Odoo, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of statutory requirements in Trinidad & Tobago
