If you are the ACCOUNTANT and want to be a part of a high-performance team, here’s what you must do:

  • Ensure compliance with all internal controls which impact on the ability of the Company to protect its assets and minimize liability.
  • Conduct monthly stock counts to ensure all Company’s products are accounted for; investigates variances.
  • Guarantee that proper controls are implemented and maintained for all fixed assets of the Company including physical verification of items.
  • Ensure that all medium and long-term investments are properly valued in accordance with G.A.A.P.
  • Prepare the payroll for monthly paid employees and submit it to the Senior Accountant for final approval in accordance with scheduled dates.
  • Finalize the Trial Balance for the accounting activities of the Company.
  • Prepare full financial package including balance sheet, variance report, budget variances report and all other required management reports.
  • Approve all Journals Entries before posting to General Ledger.
  • Review Subsidiary Ledger reconciliations and ensure that they agree with the General Ledger Control Accounts, investigate and explain variances by the end of the following month.
  • Prepare segmented monthly Financial Statements (statement of financial position, statement of comprehensive income, and submit them to the Senior Accountant for review.
  • Prepare the full annual audit files and submit them for review by Senior Accountant within forty-five days of the end of the financial year.
  • Provide support and assistance as required to the Company’s Auditors in the conduct of annual external audit.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget by department and company. The budget package must include projected statement of financial position, statement of comprehensive income and statement of cash flow. 
  • Ensure TD1 and TD4 statements are completed in a timely manner according to statutory requirements.
  • Prepare Bank Reconciliation for all company bank accounts.
  • Prepare Inventory valuation for all company’s products.
  • Review of the Cash/Credit Receivables Report submitted by the Accounting Assistant.
  • Prepare VAT Returns by the specified due date
  • Be able to work independently.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant degree.
  •  Professional Accounting Qualification (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  •  Member of the ACCA in good standing.
  •  Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial and management accounting.
  •  Proficiency in Sage, MicroPay and Microsoft Office Suite.
  •  Strong Supervisory and Analytical Experience.
