Job Purpose
The Accounting Assistant supports the Finance function by executing core accounting and transactional activities across Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Inventory. The role ensures accurate financial records, timely processing, and strong internal controls to support manufacturing operations, sales activity and management reporting.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable 

• Prepare and issue customer credit invoices in accordance with approved pricing, delivery documentation, and credit terms.

• Record customer receipts, apply payments accurately and maintain up-to-date customer account balances.

• Ability to balance daily cash receipts in cash room.

• Maintain AR aging schedules and support follow-up on overdue accounts in coordination with Sales and Finance.

• Assist with credit notes, invoice adjustments and customer account reconciliations.

 

Accounts Payable 

• Process supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals and alignment with purchase orders and delivery documentation.

• Maintain supplier records and ensure timely posting of invoices and payments.

• Prepare payment schedules and support cheque runs, bank transfers or electronic payments.

• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies in coordination with Procurement and Finance.

 

Inventory Accounting & Control

• Record inventory receipts, issues and adjustments in the accounting and inventory systems.

• Support regular inventory reconciliations between physical stock counts and system balances.

• Assist with cycle counts and periodic stock takes, investigating and reporting variances.

• Maintain accurate inventory cost records and support inventory valuation and reporting.

 

General Accounting & Administrative Support

• Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation for audit and review purposes.

• Assist with month-end closing activities, including reconciliations and schedule preparation.

• Support compliance with internal controls, accounting procedures and Company policies.

• Provide accounting data and reports as requested to support management decision-making.

    Qualifications & Experience required
  • Associate degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 2–3 years’ experience in an accounting or finance support role, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Working knowledge of AR, AP, and inventory accounting principles.
  • Experience with accounting and inventory systems; strong Excel skills
