Shipping company located in Port of Spain, is currently seeking to onboard an Accounts clerk on a one (1) year contract.

Location: Port of Spain
Working Hours: Monday to Friday

The role will support the Finance Department and will involve assisting with financial record keeping, preparation of financial reports, reconciliations, and other accounting functions in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of invoices for third-party and intercompany transactions.
• Preparation of journal entries to record revenue, expenses, prepayments, estimates, and other financial transactions.
• Assist with the preparation of accurate monthly financial statements.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Assist with the preparation of analyses to support quarterly Group Reporting.
• Maintain the fixed asset register, including the transfer of Work-in-Progress (WIP) assets to finalized assets.
• Maintain General Ledger records and assist with clearing of aged balances.
• Prepare monthly General Ledger analyses and reconciliation of key Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet accounts.
• Assist with identifying and preparing journal corrections where required.
• Prepare vendor and customer ageing schedules.
• Perform bank reconciliations.
• Assist with intercompany cost analysis to ensure accurate allocation of costs.
• Support payroll processing and employee expense claims.
• Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements.
• Provide support for audit requirements, including annual and joint venture audits.
• Identify areas for process improvement and enhanced financial control.
• Collaborate with Finance team members and other departments to provide financial analysis and operational support.
• Prepare company taxes – NIB, H/S, PAYE, VAT , GREEN FUND CORPORATE TAXES
  
  

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting or professional accounting certification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA or similar).
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience in the preparation of financial statements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Proactive approach to problem solving.
