JOB OVERVIEW:
This Capital Specialist provides support to the Head, Group Capital Management in ensuring the Group’s capital resources are allocated efficiently and utilized effectively across all territories in which GHL operates. It involves collaborating on the development of strategies to improve the efficiency of capital utilization through financial and scenario modelling, assessing the regulatory environment of all regulated entities in the Group and providing actionable insights for implementation of capital efficiency measures.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Data Collection
• Capital adequacy and solvency return with associated workings
• Internal and external financial reports
• Investment schedules
• Product statistics
• Any additional data relevant to the analysis process
2. Assess Data Collected
• Data cleaning/identification of possible errors
• Data validation for accuracy and consistency
• Data transformation/reformatting or transfer to department models
• Statistical analysis to derive data insights
• Data interpretation
3. Collaborate with strategic initiatives office and program management office
• Assess capital needs and impacts to strategic initiatives
• Recommend possible allocation scenarios
4. Map and translate capital optimisation opportunities into data model variables.
• Develop assumptions for scenario modeling
• Scrutinize model outputs
• Apply outcomes to the Group current position
5. Analyse data trends
• Changes in regulatory requirements for insurances and other financial institutions across geographical regions in which GHL operates
• Industry best practice in capital management
• Benchmarking where possible to measure KPIs
6. Assist in the preparation of capital reporting package
• Slide packs for quarterly data models
• Action items responses from committee meetings
• Any additional analysis required by executives
7. To perform any other job- related duties as assigned by the Head Group Capital Management
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• ACCA qualified
• Minimum of two years of financial analysis and reporting in the Insurance or Banking Sector
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
The Capital Specialist - – Capital Management is responsible for gathering, analysing, and presenting the GHL Group capital position quarterly. Capital adequacy returns, associated workings and support for all regulated entities within the GHL Group must be collected and assessed to present a clear and concise report on capital performance. Capital generation and capital allocation scenarios must be prepared and assessed in collaboration with the Head, Capital Management, and business units. Capital metrics and trends must be prepared and analysed for internal measurement and decision making
