Designer Systems Ltd is seeking a reliable and technically capable Fire Extinguisher Service Technician to join our Fire & Safety Division. The technician will inspect, service, maintain, recharge and test portable fire extinguishers in accordance with company procedures, manufacturer requirements, applicable standards and relevant fire-safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inspect portable fire extinguishers for damage, corrosion, pressure, condition and serviceability.
2.  Perform routine maintenance, servicing and recharging of approved extinguisher types, including dry chemical, CO2, water, foam and wet chemical units.
3. Operate ABC dry powder filling machine, nitrogen charging, CO2 filling, leak/pressure testing, drying and other workshop equipment safely.
4. Perform or assist with hydrostatic testing.
5. Disassemble, clean, inspect and reassemble valves and extinguisher components.
6. Replace defective gauges, hoses, nozzles, seals, pins, O-rings, valves and other approved components.
7. Verify extinguisher agent weight, charging pressure, leakage and final service condition.
8. Apply inspection/service labels, tamper seals and identification tags correctly.
9. Maintain accurate job sheets, inspection records, recharge records and test documentation.
10. Inspect and service extinguishers at customer premises and install brackets/cabinets where required.
11. Identify extinguishers requiring repair, hydrostatic testing, replacement or removal from service.
12. Maintain tools, machinery, work areas and inventory in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
13. Follow company health, safety, quality-control and PPE requirements at all times.
14. Provide professional customer service and assist with pickup/delivery when required.

Qualifications & Experience

1. Atleast 3 years experience in servicing portable fire extinguishers is required.
2.  Experience in fire protection, mechanical servicing, industrial maintenance or a related technical field is an asset.
3. Knowledge of NFPA 10 or equivalent portable fire extinguisher standards is an asset.
4. Fire extinguisher technician certification (such as ICC/NAFED or another recognized qualification) is preferred.
5. A valid Trinidad & Tobago Driver's Permit, (manual/heavy T) would be an asset.

6. Physically capable of safely handling portable fire extinguishers and working in workshop and field environments.
