Job Summary
The Head of Audit is responsible for leading the internal audit function within the organization, ensuring effective governance, risk management, and internal control. This role involves planning and executing audits, managing the audit team, identifying and addressing potential risks, ensuring compliance, and communicating audit findings to senior management and the audit committee.
Requirements and Responsibilities:
· Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive risk-based internal audit plan that aligns with the organization's strategic objectives, regulatory obligations, and operational risks.
· Lead the execution of audits across business units, including financial, operational, compliance, and IT audits, ensuring timely completion, accuracy, and actionable outcomes.
· Reviews and suggests revisions to applicable policies, procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify and address hidden risks or non-conformity issues.
· Audits the organization’s financial and non-financial functions, processes, and IT systems including supply chain, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, travel expenses, inventories, sales order processing, and other key areas of risk identified
· Audits the processes of the business based on identified risk, including but not limited to contracts management, tendering processes, vendor and subcontractor selection and other relevant procurement and selection processes.
· Implements a continuous auditing program and leads the conduct of continuous audits, including collection, review, and analysis of data related to the Company’s key transactions
· Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management practices, and governance processes across the organization, identifying control weaknesses and recommending improvements.
· Prepare high-quality audit reports that clearly articulate findings, root causes, risk implications, and practical recommendations to enhance business operations and control frameworks.
· Monitor and track the timely implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions, collaborating with process owners and department heads to close gaps effectively.
· Conduct special investigations and ad hoc audits in response to suspected fraud, financial irregularities, or control breaches, ensuring objective fact-finding and evidence-based reporting.
· Stay abreast of changes in regulatory and compliance requirements, ensuring that audit activities are aligned with current financial sector standards and obligations.
· Provide risk advisory support to management, offering insights on process improvements, operational resilience, and control effectiveness in alignment with enterprise risk appetite.
· Develop audit programs, testing methodologies, and data-driven techniques to assess risk exposures efficiently and with enhanced analytical depth.
· Report audit findings and control concerns to the Audit Committee and Executive Management, highlighting critical risk exposures and recommending strategic actions.
· Ensures good governance, confidentiality, due care and diligence in all activities of the department
· Promotes and educates benefits of adopted control measures; encourages stakeholders and other responsible parties to adopt changes necessary to correct problems and noncompliance
· Lead and manage the internal audit team, providing guidance, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
· Foster a culture of risk awareness, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement within the audit function.
Qualifications and Experience
· 10-15 years relevant experience in Internal Audit with at least 5 years managerial experience.
· Member of ACCA or equivalent
· Fellow of ICATT
· Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from the Institute of Internal Auditors or similar certifications
