JOB SUMMARY
The Securities & Collateral Custodian will be responsible for ensuring that the institution’s collateral is properly secured, accounted for, and maintained. The incumbent must have experience working within a financial institution and possess a strong understanding of collateral management and the applicable regulatory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Manage the institution’s collateral inventory, ensuring all collateral is properly accounted for and secured in accordance with established policies, procedures and updating of internal Registers.
· Work closely with lending team to ensure that all collateral requirements are met and that collateral values are accurately reported.
· Monitor the status of pledged collateral and ensure that collateral is released or substituted as appropriate.
· Work with external vendors and service providers to ensure that collateral is properly stored and insured.
· Perform regular audits of collateral documentation and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
· Provide support to internal and external auditors during audit and examination processes.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of collateral management regulations and industry best practices.
· Liaise with compliance team to ensure adherence to evolving regulatory requirements.
· Liaise with the delegated personnel to ensure the secure storage, retrieval, and archiving of physical and digital collateral documents.
· Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on collateral requirements and documentation.
· Maintain comprehensive documentation of procedures, controls, and workflows.
· Ensure that collateral values are accurately reported.
· Provide support to internal and external auditors during audit and examination processes.
· Prepare and submit regulatory reports related to collateral and securities.
· Analyse collateral data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or opportunities for optimisation.
· Develop dashboards and reports for senior management to support strategic decision-making.
· Any other duties assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
· Diploma or Associate Degree in Finance, Business Administration or a related field
· 1-2 years of experience in collateral management, banking, credit administration, financial operations or a related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
· Knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements related to collateral registration and custody.
· Knowledge of credit and lending processes, especially collateral requirements.
· Knowledge of various securities and collateral instruments (e.g., mortgages, bills of sale, guarantees).
· Ability to identify discrepancies, assess document completeness, and support risk assessments.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for document requests.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Ability to adapt to new systems or processes quickly.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial/legal documents with discretion.
· Excellent communication and organizational
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Excellent Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel and Word), and possibly document or collateral management systems.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment which requires adaptable, results oriented individuals.
· Ability to work under rigid timelines due to the high-pressure work environment.
· Ability to manage multiple document requests, verifications, and follow-ups simultaneously.
· Ability to be exposed to rays from computer for prolong period.
· Ability to sit for prolonged periods but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
· Ability to work in a normal office environment with requirements to work outside regular working hours.
· Ability to work in a climate-controlled workplace usually set to a comfortable temperature
