Hydro Tech is seeking a commercially astute, results-driven professional to lead estimating functions while actively supporting business development and market growth within the energy sector.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical estimating capability with strategic commercial thinking and client-facing confidence to drive revenue growth while protecting margin integrity.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end preparation of technical and commercial bid submissions for major energy clients
• Develop accurate, competitive cost estimates (labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, logistics, overheads)
• Interpret scopes of work, specifications, drawings, and commercial terms
• Identify commercial risks and structure pricing to optimize profitability
• Support client engagement, re-engagement, and opportunity pipeline development
• Contribute to commercial strategy and competitive positioning
• Collaborate with Operations, HSSE, Procurement, and Finance
• Maintain cost benchmarks and conduct post-award performance reviews to improve estimating accuracy
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in oil & gas estimating
• Strong knowledge of contract structures (lump sum, schedule of rates, reimbursable)
• Proven track record of preparing and securing competitive bids
• Advanced Excel and estimating software proficiency
• Strong commercial judgment, analytical capability, and negotiation confidence
• Master’s Degree (MBA or related field) will be considered an asset
• FIDIC will be considered an asset
