Job Summary:

The Swimming Pool Repairs Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing residential and commercial swimming pool systems. This includes pumps, filters, salt chlorinators, heaters, plumbing lines, some automation systems, lights, and other related equipment. The technician ensures high-quality workmanship, timely completion of jobs, and excellent customer service while adhering to company safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Repairs & Maintenance

Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair pool circulation systems including pumps, filters, chlorinators, and heaters.

Identify leaks and perform plumbing repairs (PVC).

Conduct pressure tests and electrical checks on pool equipment.

Replace defective pool lights, timers, and some automation components.

Diagnose and resolve water flow and filtration issues.

 

2. Equipment Installation

Install and commission new pool equipment including pumps, filters, valves, heaters, and some automation control panels.

Ensure installations are completed according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.

 

3. Water Quality & System Testing

Test and balance pool water chemistry during repairs where necessary.

Confirm proper system functionality before completing service calls.

 

4. Customer Service

Communicate clearly and professionally with clients regarding work performed and recommended actions.

Provide accurate repair reports and ensure client satisfaction.

 

5. Documentation & Reporting

Complete daily service reports and job cards accurately.

Record parts used, time spent, and any follow-up actions required.

Report equipment or material shortages to the Repairs Supervisor promptly.

 

6. Health & Safety

Follow company and industry safety procedures at all times.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of company vehicles, tools, and equipment.

Wear appropriate PPE and ensure safe handling of pool chemicals and electrical components.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

Education:

Minimum: Secondary School Certificate (CXC passes including English and Mathematics).

Preferred: Certification or training in electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems (e.g., NESC, MIC, or equivalent).

 

Experience:

Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in swimming pool repairs, plumbing, or electrical maintenance.

Experience with Pentair, Hayward, or similar pool equipment preferred.

Familiarity with salt systems, variable speed pumps, and some automation controls an asset.

 

Technical Skills:

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.

Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical principles related to pool systems.

Basic water chemistry understanding.

Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and installation manuals.

 

Other Requirements:

Valid Trinidad & Tobago Driver’s Permit.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors.

Organized, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Flexibility to work weekends or after-hours in emergency cases.
