About the role
The role of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator involves operating, monitoring, maintaining and trouble-shooting the wastewater treatment facility and its processes. To also assist with the technical aspects of the plant operations to ensure compliance with regulatory discharge specifications. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Project Engineer.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
• Operate the wastewater treatment plant and associated equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Assist in monitoring, inspecting, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repair of the physical plant, pump stations and all of their components (including all equipment, automation and controls) and the addition of the necessary chemicals for treatment and plant enhancement.
• Assist in performing sampling, monitoring and testing in accordance with internationally recognizable standard methods required to maintain compliance with regulatory discharge specifications governing the wastewater treatment process, sludge management, plant, air pollution and emission.
• Assist in the performance of regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and machinery.
• Assist with the installation and inspection of new equipment and services as required.
• On call to respond to emergencies and breakdowns at the plant.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports as required.
Qualifications
• Process Plant Operator Diploma or equivalent certification
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in wastewater treatment plant operations.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
